The site may not be famous like Bagan or Angkor Wat temple complex but Mrauk U itself is one of the third biggest archeological sites in Asia. Historically, Mrauk Oo was an busy port with lots of foreign culture influence. The relics and religious architect remains in the town reflects the charm of the old day that you may not find elsewhere in Burma.
The second thing that draw photographers to Mrauk U is its concealed landscape.  Formed by magnificient mountain and two scenic rivers of Khitsapanadi and Laymyo. Sunrise shooting with temple spires poke out of the mysty jungle is simply breathtaking !
Ethnic diversity is another reason that lures travelers to Rakhine, especially the Chin tribe who has long tradition of face tattooing. It is said that now is the time to go since in 20 years, you may not see tradition anymore.

How to go there
The most common way is to take a flight from Yangon to Sittwe then board a river ferry on Kaladan river for 4 hours. The journey is long but enjoyable with rustic scenery and remote hamlet encounters on the way. 
Bus ride is available on route Bagan - Magwe - Mrauk U but not really recommended since the road is not totally paved and the bus condition is not really good.
