Bus Location and Ticketing

As a consequence of tourism promotion, buses linking Yangon, Bagan, Inle Lake and Mandalay are the mostly used route in the country.
In general, bus stations are located outside the city/ town. For example, the bus station of Yangon is about 20 minutes from the airport and about 40minutes for the downtown. Accordingly, for a long journey, you should book the ticket in advance and prepare a certain time to reach the bus station. Many bus operators now offers online booking and you can reserve far in advance.

There are many buses for the same route.

Bus tickets can be purchased at the bus station. It is advised to book in advance or buy it at least 1 day before your actual departure during the tourism season from October to April. During the Thingyan - New Year festivals, buses are always fully booked.

Ticket price : generally, bus is cheaper and more comfortable than train. Bus from Yangon to Bagan costs about $12 for 9 hours driving, air conditioned soft seater or sleeper berth.
