Travel by Air in Myanmar

Flight is the most common mean of transportation to travel from one city to another in Myanmar, however, it has certain inconvenience. Though it is time effective, the domestic flights are not so reliable and punctual, particularly if time is limited. 

Domestic Airlines and Facts

There are over 10 flight carriers providing internal flights in Myanmar including: Yangon Airways, Air Bagan, Air KBZ...
There are 3 international airports that receive both domestic and international flights : Yangon, Bagan and Naypyidaw - Myanmar's capital. All these airports accept Myanmar Visa on Arrival for tourist and business purpose.

The most frequent flight routes are :
Yangon - Mandalay
Yangon - Naypayidaw ( increasing demand )
Yangon - Bagan
Yangon - Heho ( for Kalaw, Taunggyi, Inle Lake )

Flight Notes

• For domestic flight, the luggage allowance is 20kg.
• During the public holiday time, especially for Thingyan new year, the demand is very high. It is advisable to book in advance 
• Flights often do not take of at their designated schedule, please prepare for some delay and go to the airport a little at least 30 minutes.
• Travel by air to Dawei, Kawthaung, Lashio, Kyaing Tong are not daily. Please check carefully the flight schedule of each airline before planning your holiday.
