Hpa An Main Attractions

At the first sight, Hpa An looks very like Ninh Binh, Vietnam with green rice paddies, rocky mountains and fascinating local villages. Once in Hpa An, you will find more captivating places to spend the days right out of its small town.

Mountain Zwegabin

At the elevation of 725m, this limestone mountain offers panoramic view of the area. The Karen people consider this mountain as the Kayak's state symbol and it is also the name of the Hpa An's football team. 

Saddar Cave

Saddar is the highlight of any trip to Hpa An. Photographers who once were in Hpa An always came here for shooting for certain reasons. The cave's tunnel leads to a scenic lake where you can take a boat trip with the price of $6

Kyauk Kalap

Standing out of a scenic lake, Kyauk Kalap poccess a finger-like lime rock which makes itself unique amongst the attractions in southern Myanmar. This iconic site is also a monastery where you can meet the respected monk U Winaya. 

Kayin Cultural Museum

If you prefer a source of cultural insight, Kayin museum is a nice place to stop by. Inside this 2 storey building, you will find wide arrays of regional traditional customes, handicrafts, relics from the old days. 

Hpa An morning Market

Morning market attracts the most people in town as well sellers from suburb. You will have many photogenic chances to capture local farm products, something home made that are typically Kayak!

How to get there

From Yangon, the best way to reach Hpa An is by car. The road trip is very scenic while you have chances for photos stops on the way. It takes about 6 hours driving for direct route and you can also do a longer trip via Mawlamyine. You will need to hire a car in Myanmar with driver since self-drive is not permitted in Myanmar.

There are 3 public buses a day leaving Yangon at 8.30am, 01:00pm and 08.00pm lasting for 6 hours with the price of $6/ person.
